AMD Ryzen 9000 Series: Everything you need to know | TheMVP

AMD’s new CPUs are here, and there’s a lot to be excited about, such as the 16% more performance with more or less the same price as the Ryzen 7000 series. But let’s not get hooked up to just anything ‘claimed’ by AMD because there are way more secrets to uncover.

Starting with “the flagship Ryzen 9 9950X with a 16% performance increase from its competitor for the same price”. Don’t you think it’s too good to be true? It’s better if we take this with a grain of salt and relax ourselves until the final release.

Looking closely at specs, even in the flagship one, we notice no bump in boost clocks and the cache. In fact, the base clocks are slightly lower compared to the previous gen, and yet AMD claims these chips will outperform Intel’s flagship, the Core i9-14900K. To be honest, we cannot confirm that until the CPUs are actually out and we test them.

According to AMD, the other CPUs in the 9000 series, the Ryzen 5 and the Ryzen 7 – they also promise similar performance boosts, and lower temperatures while being efficient.

But… where is the Ryzen 3? AMD decided to not announce it yet and we think, while these improvements are great, the budget segment will still have to look at the i3 for PC builds under ₹40-50K.

Although – if AMD’s claims are 100% true, and they’re not short in supply – it’s really game over for the competition. Especially for the high-end builds. Because the 16-core 9950x is outperforming the 24-core i9 by 15% in multi-core performance while consuming 50 Watts less.

AMD has also confirmed the use of the AM5 socket, at least till 2027. So even if you have a 600 series old motherboard, you still have the flexibility to install any of the latest AMD CPUs and it will work perfectly well. And where this will obviously help AMD to sell more new-gen chips, it will also help the consumer by having a future-proof AMD build without any issue of upgradability in the future.

And in case you want the best, we have the latest X870E motherboards with USB 4.0 and PCIe Gen 5 ports that fit in just anything.

According to AMD, new products are going to hit the shelves anytime soon and while everything looks great for AMD – there’s a question that arises for its long sustainability in the market.
