RTX 5080 Review – Price, Benchmarks & Is it worth it?

The much-anticipated RTX 5080 has finally arrived, and its price in India is averaging around ₹1,70,000 across various brands. At $1,000 internationally, it is priced $200 less than the RTX 4080 but sits at the same price point as the 4080 Super. But does it deliver enough performance to justify an upgrade? Let’s dive into the specs, benchmarks, and whether it’s worth upgrading.

RTX 5080 vs RTX 4080: Specs & Key Differences

On paper, the RTX 5080 is nearly identical to the RTX 4080, with the only major change being faster memory. While the CUDA core count isn’t a huge leap, the faster memory bandwidth allows for slightly better gaming performance. But is it a game-changer?

Gaming Performance: Small Gains, Big Expectations

The RTX 5080 is, on average, 14% faster than the RTX 4080. However, when compared to the RTX 4080 Super, the gap narrows to just 9% on average, with some games showing nearly identical performance.

Productivity: Minor Improvements

For content creators, the RTX 5080 doesn’t bring much to the table. The improvements in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve are around 6%, and in Blender, the difference is negligible.

If your primary workload includes video editing, 3D rendering, or professional workloads, the RTX 5080 doesn’t offer much over the 4080 or even the 4080 Super.

Cooling & Power Efficiency

One of the best advantages of RTX 5080 is that it runs cooler and draws less power than the RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 Super.

In other cases this would be an attractive feature but here it is making the 5090 look weak.

Should You Upgrade?

While the RTX 5080’s performance isn’t groundbreaking, its launch is expected to drive down the price of the RTX 4080. If you’re looking for a gaming PC, this might be the best time to grab an RTX 4080 gaming rig before stocks run out.

Conclusion

The RTX 5080 brings minor performance improvements but doesn’t offer a large upgrade over the RTX 4080 or 4080 Super. However, its launch will make the RTX 4080 more affordable, making it a great option for gamers looking to build a high-end rig at a lower cost.
