Have you heard about the rumour of the Ryzen 9000 series CPU being 40% more powerful than the Ryzen 7000?
But wait! – when will the Ryezn 9000 launch?
Well, we don’t know yet, but here in this blog, we’ll discuss some rumours and real information straight from AMD reps. So let’s begin!
The AMD Ryzen 9000 processors – launching in the second half of 2024 will be based on the Zen 5 chip-based architecture and it’s a leak that these processors will be having a 16-core flagship lineup consisting of two 8-core CCDs – each packing 32MB of unified L3 cache.
The Zen 5 chips will be made on a 4nm or 3nm process node with a major update over Zen-4 starting from the L1 cache increase from 32 to 48 KB to an expansion in the data translation buffer and branch predictor.
Looking more into the Zen-5 backend, AMD will make multiple smaller scheduler windows consolidated into larger queues with an increase in ALU count from 4 to 6 accommodating the higher throughput.
But REALLY enough of this science, let’s look at some maths!
Going with Cinebench R23, a YouTuber (who did the leak) said the Ryzen 9 9950X attains 2,800 points which is 40% faster than its predecessors in single-threaded performance and over 50% for multi-threaded workloads.
We can guess for 9000 series – the Ryzen 9 9950X, will supposedly be with a boost to 6.5GHz.
Compared with its competitor, AMD will need just a 15% jump to beat it. And with 9000 improved chips, we can clearly see the way they are choosing to go with.
Getting back to compatibility – AMD’s Zen 5 processors will support AM5 800 series motherboards while supporting the flagship X870E chipset with up to 20 PCIe 5 lanes
According to a leak, after the release of the Ryzen 9000 processors in the second half of 2024, the Ryzen 9000X3D will be revealed in the first week of January 2025 during the CES 2025.
And this does actually make total sense to keep a 6-month gap between the 9000 Zen 5 and 3D v-Cache variant – just like their competitor during their 15th Gen Arrow Lake.
So we are ready to welcome the Ryzen 9000 series but – are you too?
